Purpose of the Position
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for setting the economic development strategy for Terrebonne Parish. Terrebonne Parish is a community of 110,000 people with a healthy economy. The CEO will drive strategy, business retention, and business attraction while taking advantage of opportunities as they arise.
SCOPE
The CEO reports to a 9-member Board of Directors made up of appointments from both business and political groups. With assistance from the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for achieving the mission and vision of the organization. The CEO has broad authority to create and manage programs that impact the economic vitality of the parish (county).
RESPONSIBILITES

Executive Management

Finance and accounting process

Setting and administration of the budget in accordance to public requirements

Ensure staffing is appropriate to meet goals of the organization

Economic Development

Oversight of both Business Retention and Expansion and the Business Attraction programs
-
Build relationships with targeted site selection consultants
-
Identify and market industrial and commercial real estate opportunities

Partnership Development
-
Build strong relationships with key organizations such as the port, the airport, technical college, LUMCON, and others

Interact with numerous community and business groups to ensure coordination, collaboration, and communication with the parish

Project Management

Ability to create and lead impactful projects in the community

Organize and manage complex projects

Education/experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree, required
-
Master’s degree, preferred
-
Economic development certification is a plus
-
Minimum of five to seven years of experience required
-
Executive level experience, preferred
-
Knowledge of minutes, Robert’s Rule of Order and/or Parliamentary Procedure is required.
