Who are our members? LIDEA membership is drawn from state and local economic development agencies (EDO'S), chambers of commerce, utility companies, railroads, banks, ports, business consultants, engineering firms, real estate development groups, and similar organizations.
Why become a member? LIDEA members provide a collective voice of the industry and provides an avenue where economic develop policy leaders can come together in the Associations’ meetings, events, and services. Through advocacy and communication at the state capitol, and through every parish in the state, we work to accomplish an agenda that is driven by our hundreds of members and provide leadership in the economic development issues of Louisiana.
What is provided to LIDEA members?
Legislative Advocacy and Monitoring – LIDEA is very active and present in the state capitol conducting efforts to influence the introduction, enactment, or modification of legislation impacting economic development. LIDEA members receive a discounted Professional Level subscription to My Capitol Watchdog, an easy to use automated bill tracking service that keeps us updated on all of the bills that are important to our industry during the legislative session.
Professional Development – The Louisiana Economic Development Certification Program is designed for those interested in learning more about economic development. The program, which is offered in conjunction with LSU’s Executive Education, the Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, and LIDEA, is tailored specifically to the state of Louisiana and includes courses throughout the year.
Participation in LIDEA’s Spring and Fall Meetings – More than 100 directors and staff members from local economic development associations, as well as other individuals involved in the economic growth in Louisiana, come together biannually to discuss and find solutions to our industry’s most pressing issues.
Membership in a Range of Policy Councils, Committees, and Groups – Providing ample opportunity to meet and network with economic development professionals and volunteers from across the state at our regional networking events and membership meetings
LIDEA Board and Contract Staff – Support to members explaining industry trends, developing government relations and communication strategies, and gaining access to important decision makers.
